Program Overview

This program is designed to provide the student with intensive training to learn skills needed for entry-level employment as a pharmacy technician. The class is 6 weeks, virtual classroom instruction and hands-on training. Among many topics covered are drug and medical terminology, abbreviation, pharmacy record keeping, dispensing and prescription processing, pharmacy math, aseptic technique, billing and inventory, controlled substances, OTC, communication skills, pharmacy law, and ethics.
Successful completion of this training will help the student to be fully prepared to successfully pass the Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPht) certification exam. And upon licensure, the pharmacy technician may work in a variety of settings, including retail pharmacies, hospitals, compounding, and home infusion pharmacy.
